After some exciting first steps in Chinese and feeling myself rise to mount stupid in the Dunning-Kruger curve, I also realise there is a long road ahead. Although I have a lot of fun designing the flashcard system and using it to review and prepare my lessons, conversation is still a long way. I would like to get there asap, as being able to speak Chinese continuously will be a snowball effect. Grateful for the lessons learned today, and my strict but very helpful 老师!
Takeaways and lessons learned
- The pronounciation of the “r” comes from your throat, but without vibration. Examples include 人 (human). I myself have the idea that the tongue lightly vibrates, judging from the pronunciation.
- The word 的 (de) makes a pronoun posessive (你的 = yours)
- The sentence “轮到我了” literally means something like “The wheel arrived by me”, thus “My turn”.
